A look at our numbers and ratings so far:
Wishbob didn’t come out of a business plan – it came out of real life. Three people in Vienna, from completely different backgrounds, independently arrived at the same conclusion: giving gifts was more complicated than it should be, and none of the existing solutions felt right.
In 2018, they joined forces. Three perspectives on the same problem became Wishbob: an online wish list that combines collecting, sharing and reserving in a single tool – in the browser, in the app, on any device.
Richard is a native Viennese and father of two young children who comes from IT project management. His everyday life revolves around family, work and a constant search for solutions that simply work – no detours.
Richard’s recurring experience is one many families know: a child receives the same LEGO set for their birthday from two different relatives – two identical boxes end up in the living room. No one did anything wrong, and yet everyone is a little disappointed. Richard didn’t want to invent a new product, he wanted to solve this one specific problem – in a way that actually works in real life.
At Wishbob, he brings the discipline that turns an idea into a working product: pragmatic solutions over theoretical concepts – always focused on what users really need in everyday life.
Caner is an entrepreneur and web developer with Turkish roots. He thinks in solutions rather than descriptions, with a sharp instinct for spotting challenges and building innovative answers to them.
What Caner noticed wasn’t a single gifting moment but a recurring pattern: there are countless online shops, but no central place where wishes come together. That observation became an idea, then a concept – and eventually a working platform.
At Wishbob, he leads the technical side: from the Wishbob Button to the browser extension to the app. When a wish from any online shop lands on your wish list with a single click, that’s Caner’s work.
Angelika was born in Italy and values a gift-giving culture in which thoughtfulness, meaningful gestures and practical value belong together. Today she lives in Vienna and works as an author and editor. She has a trained eye for the way language shapes relationships.
After being asked “What should I give?” several times in a row, she realized that, for some people, gift-giving is stressful. In that moment, Angelika saw the need for an online wish list that also helps people who struggle with gift-giving – so everyone can choose something meaningful.
At Wishbob, she leads Content and Brand: the copy, the tone of voice, the brand identity. When Wishbob sounds warm and human rather than technical, that’s Angelika’s signature.
Wishbob isn’t the work of a marketing department. It’s built in direct conversation with the people who use it. Every feature that feels obvious today started with feedback – an email, an app store review, a note in support.
Three principles guide us:
We build an online wish list that works without fuss, saves time and genuinely makes life easier – from a spontaneous birthday gift to wedding planning. Clear, practical and direct, so giving stays a joy.
Wishbob grows out of exchange with the people who use it. Updates come from real needs – from emails, app store reviews and support tickets – not from roadmaps written for investors.
Wishbob stays ad-free and never sells user data to third parties. We finance ourselves solely through affiliate commissions – with no additional cost for our users and without anyone outside ever reading along.
A special occasion coming up? Whether it’s Christmas, a birthday, a wedding or a baby shower – Wishbob is there. Give it a try – and tell us how you find our wish list.
Wishbob was brought to life in 2018 by Richard Schermann (Project Management), Caner Tankir (Technology) and Angelika Unterholzner (Content & Brand). All three live in Vienna and continue to actively develop Wishbob to this day.
Wishbob was founded in 2018 in Vienna. The company has remained at its founding location ever since and continues to develop its online wish list there.
Wishbob can be used worldwide in the browser (desktop and mobile) and is available as an app for iOS and Android. The app is currently offered in 19 countries and supports six languages: German, English, Italian, French, Dutch and Spanish.
Wishbob is financed through affiliate commissions: when users buy products in online shops via Wishbob, the shop pays Wishbob a small commission. There are no extra costs for users. This financing model lets us offer Wishbob permanently for free – with no advertising and no premium subscription.
All data is stored on servers within the European Union and transmitted via SSL encryption. As an Austrian company, Wishbob is subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We do not sell user data to third parties and do not pass it on to advertising networks.
Questions about using Wishbob – sign-up, features, reserving, sharing – are answered on the product FAQ page.
